The youth group of Victory Church, known as "Overcomers", focuses on reaching at-risk middle and high schoolers in Goulds, Florida and nearby communities.  It combines neighborhood outreach and campus ministry (in partnership with First Priority and Youth for Christ Miami and Broward) in order to evangelize and disciple as many students as possible in this area, all because God is in constant pursuit of lost sheep (Matthew 18:12).  Many of the teenagers that "Overcomers" ministers to have experienced what it is like to grow up without the love, presence, and guidance of a father in underserved neighborhoods where violence, incarceration, abuse, drug addiction, risky sexual behavior, lack of education, and unemployment abound.  In light of this heartbreaking reality, the number one priority of "Overcomers" is to connect local youth to their Heavenly Father through weekly Gospel presentations and Bible studies, as well as one-on-one mentoring with godly men and women who are genuinely invested in their lives (Psalm 27:10; Hebrews 13:5; John 1:12).  In addition, besides providing a safe place each week where students can eat pizza, play games, train for their favorite sports (i.e., we meet in a Crossfit gym), and sign up for memorable field trips, "Overcomers" offers homework help and even assistance with job hunting.  This is because Overcomers, in accordance with the truth of Scripture, unashamedly teaches that every teen is "a victor, not a victim", regardless of one's appearance, experiences, or upbringing, and the application of the formula of "Jesus, family, education, and hard work" to one's life is the only way to break sinful generational chains (Acts 10:34; Romans 8:31; Proverbs 9:10; 2 Thessalonians 3:10, 1 Timothy 5:8).  

Whenever a young man or woman, by the saving grace and mercy of God, realizes that the Word of God (i.e, the "sword of the Spirit") says they are "...more than conquerors through Him who loved us"(and shed His blood for our sins on the cross) and that nothing will be able to separate (them) from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord", they become as unbreakable as a diamond in the midst of suffering and begin to reflect the light of Jesus in the darkest of places (Ephesians 6:17; Romans 8:31-39; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 5:16). The end result is faithfulness to God, their families, and their community. This is our prayer for every teenager we encounter at "Overcomers", as well as the inspiration for our logo (see below).
